Starting Mounjaro means following a structured dosing schedule that you’ll be given by your clinician, who’ll guide you through each step as your treatment progresses.
Mounjaro comes in six strengths, and everyone begins on the lowest dose before gradually increasing. This steady step-up is known as titration, and it’s designed to give your body time to adjust, reduce side effects, and support safe, effective weight loss.
In this guide, we’ll break down each Mounjaro dose, explain how the titration schedule works, and show you the typical timeline you’ll follow. By the end, you’ll know exactly how your dosing is planned from the first injection onward.

Three key takeaways
- Mounjaro comes in six different dose strengths, from 2.5mg to 15mg.
- You’ll start on 2.5mg, the lowest dose, and gradually increase the dose month-by-month.
- This process is called ‘titration’ and is done for safety purposes, to help your body adjust to the medication and minimise side effects.
What is titration?
‘Titration’ is the term health professionals use for gradually increasing the dosage strength of a medication over time. This is done for safety reasons, to minimise potential side effects and make sure they’re tolerating the medicine well.
The typical titration path for Mounjaro is a slight dose increase every four weeks, to give your body time to adjust to the medication, but you can titrate at your own pace. You don’t necessarily have to go up every 4 weeks.
You can also go down if you’re not feeling comfortable or getting side effects. You can make your titration schedule work to your needs and our clinicians will support you.
Eventually, you’ll titrate up to a maintenance dose, which is the highest dose you’ll take throughout treatment. During the weight loss maintenance phase, you’ll stay at the same dose for as long as you want to, to help you keep off the weight you’ve lost.
This step-by-step approach helps to make sure that your treatment is effective, yet safe, so you can get the weight loss results without unwanted side effects.
Regular check-ins with your prescriber are crucial to make sure your dose is the right one for you.
While it might seem like titration slows down the process, it’s the best and safest way to help you reach your target weight. Sustainable weight loss is efficient weight loss.

Once our prescribers approve your order, your treatment will start with a 2.5mg injection once a week for the first month.
After the first month, if you’re tolerating the medication well with minimal or very manageable side effects, it will be time to increase your dosage to 5mg. From here, on you can increase your dose monthly until you reach your maintenance dose.
Everyone’s Mounjaro dosing journey is different, but if you’re tolerating the medicine well, the typical titration schedule is:
- Weeks 1-4: 2.5mg
